"The Great American Songbook"
A Cabaret featuring American Standards
Starring Broadway's Allison Blackwell & the rising young stars of the South Shore!
Our next mainstage cabaret will celebrate the canon of the most important and influential American popular songs and jazz standards from the early 20th century as we pay homage to "The Great American Songbook". This production will be headlined by a Broadway Star Allison Blackwell, who will perform alongside over 40 talented students from across Southeastern Massachusetts! Through song, dance, and orchestration, we will present music from legendary American composers such as Duke Ellington (It Don’t Mean A Thing If It Ain’t Got That Swing), Sammy Fain (I'll Be Seeing You), George Gershwin (They Can’t Take That Away From Me, Someone to Watch Over Me), Cole Porter (Another Openin', Another Show, Friendship), and many, many more. Enjoy a big band bandstand and our lovely performers decked to the nines as they recreate these popular and enduring songs from the radio, Broadway, Hollywood, and beyond. Your toes will be tapping and your fingers will be snapping as we honor these cultural treasures fondly known as “The Great American Songbook”!
