In this exciting and interesting class taught by the Co-Founder/ Directors and alumni of Break a Leg Theater Works, students will explore a few different ways that we can perform on stage. We’ll tackle improvisation, where students will be assigned different characters and scenarios within a “theater games” format. They will then be encouraged and empowered with professional tips to create their own scenes while working together in small groups. We will also examine works from published plays, musicals or monologues. We’ll provide our students with tools and tactics on character development, text analysis, and general acting techniques. We’ll delve into musical theater, singing songs and staging scenes from the hottest shows on Broadway. We’ll work on improving pitch accuracy, harmonizing, as well as lyric and character interpretation. Simultaneously, as we explore these various areas of the performing arts, we’ll also prepare for a final a showcase that will highlight the variety of material we have been researching during the course. Each student will be evaluated on an individual level and be encouraged to explore the areas that personally interest them. This is a fun, fast moving class that is ideal for students interested in theater, music, comedy or drama.
