Have a blast with us this February Vacation!

This exclusive & state-of-the-art one-week performing arts camp will give students of all abilities the opportunity to work with BROADWAY performers right here in the South Shore area, exploring rock music from musical theater and radio through song, acting, and dance. Students will not want to miss this amazing opportunity to both learn from and perform with professionals straight from the National Tour of SCHOOL OF ROCK during their run at the Boston Opera House!

During the week, all students will learn musical rock numbers, and will be selected to perform solos, duets, and/or group numbers at a final showcase on Sunday, February 24th at the Spire Center for Performing Arts!
​
All camp students will also have the chance to participate in at least THREE unique Master Classes throughout the week (please see below for class descriptions and teacher bios)! 
*students will be assigned to master classes on first day of camp
 
The remainder of camp will be taught by BAL owners/directors Kyle Wrentz & Healy Sammis. Students may be separated for some activities based on age and experience.

  • Monday-Friday, February 18th-22nd: 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

  • Sat, February 23rd - 10:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m.

  • Sun, February 24th - 10:00 a.m. dress rehearsal 

  • Sun, February 24th - 2:00p.m. show

4+ days: $365 - includes at least 3 master classes

3 days: $225

1 day: $150

Master Classes & Teachers

Musical Theater Audition Technique Master Class

w/Madison Micucci (all ages)

 

Students will have the opportunity to perform 2 short contrasting musical theater cuts and receive direct feedback on song interpretation, vocal technique, as well as general audition tips from Madison. Each student will leave having gained knowledge on how to make their material connect in their audition room. This master class  will be offered to students of all ages, prior theater experience is required. The class will end with a Q&A with Madison.

JP Qualters (Theo) is born and raised in Waltham, MA. Hartt School BFA Musical Theatre. First National tour: Kinky Boots, School of Rock. Regional - PCLO, Pioneer Theatre, NSMT, Fords Theatre, GoodSpeed,

Signature Theatre. 

Kinky Boots Broadway Combo Class

w/JP Qualters (8th - 12th graders)

Students will learn the actual Broadway combination taught to actors auditioning for roles in one of the many productions of “Kinky Boots” around the world. They will get direct feedback on  dance technique and character interpretation through dance. This class will end with a Q&A with JP.

School of Rock Broadway Combo Class

w/Brian Golub (3rd - 7th graders)

Students will learn the actual Broadway combination taught to actors auditioning for roles in professional productions of “School of Rock” on Broadway and beyond. They will get direct feedback on dance technique and character development through dance.  This class will end with a Q&A with Brian.

Brian Golub (swing) is currently on the 1st National Tour of School of Rock! His most notable credit is his supporting role as Kristen Bell’s secretary in Disney/Touchstone Pictures “When In Rome.” He recently returned from 7 months in South Korea touring with Jekyll and Hyde and before that completed the National Tour of Joseph…Dreamcoat  as Reuben singing “One More Angel in Heaven.” In New York he has been seen in the Broadway Benefits of Hair where he can be also be heard riffing it up on the Grammy Nominated cast album & Chess starring Josh Groban. He was seen Off Broadway & around NYC in: Standard Time, Fleet Week, Caligula, Floyd Collins and many more you have never heard of. Deidre Lang (Ms. Sheinkopf) originally from New Jersey started her career off at an early age. She could be seen in numerous Broadway shows, commercials, national touring companies and had a stint On Fox TV show in living color as a fly girl. Broadway: Ragtime, The Lion King, Tommy. National tours: The Lion King, Hairspray, Tommy, Cats. International tours: Ragtime (Vancouver), Smokey Joe’s Café (Australia). Regional: The Lion King (Las Vegas), Rock of Ages (Las Vegas), Aida (Alliance Theatre). TV: Fly Girl on Fox’s “In Living Color”. Thanks to God, friends and family!

Deirdre's Flygirl Funk Hip Hop Class

w/Deirdre Lang (all ages)

Students will get the opportunity to learn Hip Hop and Funk Dance combinations from one of the original “Fly Girls” from the hit 90s FOX TV show In Living Color. Deidre danced alongside superstar Jennifer Lopez and “Dancing With The Stars” judge Carrie Ann Inaba and she will share some of their most iconic routines with our students. This class will end with Q&A with Deidre.

Improv

w/ Jonathon Timpanelli (all ages)

​

Students will have the opportunity to work with Jonathan on general rules and techniques they can use on when creating  artistic moments in the spur of the moment onstage. Come and learn from one of the actors who understudies the iconic comedic leading role of Dewy on the First National Tour of “School of Rock”. Students will take away improv techniques that they can apply to their future comedic and dramatic roles. This class will end with a Q&A with Jonathon
